Mr. Veikko Ikonen

Mr. Veikko Ikonen (M.A., Design Anthropologist) is working as a senior research scientist and team leader, Tampere, Finland. Mr Ikonen is focused on human-driven design of future technologies, applications and services. His research interests include also ethical issues (including e.g.p rivacy and security). Ikonen has taken part recently to the following ITEA and EU projects: Mimosa, Nomadic Media and Minami and co-ordinated a large Tekes funded project EASE, (Ecological Approach to Smart Environments, 2005-2007). The aim of this project was to identify, model and evaluate the ecology of smart environments from the perspectives of people, technology and environment. Currently he is leading the Finnish Ihme project that is focused on creating and putting into practise innovation spaces in everyday environments. He also has an active part in the EU project, ETICA, which will identify emerging Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and their potential application areas in order to analyse and evaluate ethical issues arising from these.
